Lisa Frank is an American artist, founder of Lisa Frank Incorporated. The artist's work appears on various commercial elementary and middle-school products, mostly school supplies. Also common among Lisa Frank-related items are stickers and a variety of other merchandise such as clothing, toys, and even light switch covers, primarily marketed towards young girls.
She founded the company in 1979 after going through a difficult time struggling to become a movie star. She states her inspiration of bright colors originates from her occasional gigs and an XXX stripper club in Los Angeles, California,[1] and that her success resulted from her sticker line. The company's headquarters is in Tucson, Arizona, and is easily visible due to the bright hearts, stars, and musical notes decorating the side of the building. There is currently a quarterly magazine also named Lisa Frank.
In 2005 Lisa Frank divorced James Green, the CEO of the company and co-share holder. The court agreed to assign control of the company to Lisa Frank.[2]
Frank is an alumna of the Kingswood School (today: Cranbrook Kingswood School). Lisa Frank is an alumna sister of Delta Phi Epsilon and a distant relative of Anne Frank.
